Bio
Melissa Wilson was born in Oshawa Ontario, finding pockets of culture and creativity, in what some might argus isn’t the most enriching location. Taking art classes her entire life, she is well versed in many mediums. She applied to the Advanced Art program in high school, allowing her to build a portfolio for Graphic Design at Durham College.
After a three-year advanced diploma course, Melissa continued her education in Durham College’s one-year Foundation in Art + Design program. She not only showed and sold works in program’s year-end exhibition, but she was also selected to the Student Juried Art Show at Whitby’s Station Gallery.
The next few years included community art exhibitions, internships, freelance, as well as a 2-year health hiatus, where she reassessed her career. After moving to Peterborough in 2013, she predominantly worked in health and wellness, but never stopped creating personally or professionally. Currently, with COVID now altering her career yet again, Melissa is going back to her roots and true passion and exploring the arts professionally.
